Cuba Solidarity Campaign

Issue

The first issue of a national newsletter to promote and coordinate the Cuba Solidarity Campaign was published last week.

The newsletter will be produced by the campaign's National Steering Committee, chaired by Victorian Senator Barney Cooney, and is expected to assist in the development of a broad and high profile Australian campaign in defence of Cuba during 1992.

Plans are also under way for the production of a national broadsheet which will be widely distributed as a means of informing Australians about the struggle for survival and self-determination in Cuba, and the effects of the 30-year US blockade. The broadsheet will also help preparations for a national tour of Cuban trade unionists and a national conference on Cuba to be held in Melbourne on May 9-10.

Sponsorships are now being sought for plans to fill a ship with Australian wheat, powdered milk and other urgently needed goods for delivery to Cuba next year.

For information about activities and how you can assist, contact PO Box 12535, A'Beckett Street, Melbourne 3000 or telephone (052) 633100.
