City in the country

By Phil Patterson

ORANGE — Hard-edged urban theatre comes to country NSW with Sparky, a new play by Corinne Staas showing at the Civic Theatre Forum here in June and July.

Sparky is about domestic violence, youth subculture and the issue of who and what is home.

Sparky is a street kid. He and his companions live in the impact zone of a society whose disorientation and tunnel vision are beyond their control.

The play looks askance at sexual and gender politics, and gazes beyond to the social horizon. Pictured are cast members Nathan Totten and Caroline Roweth.
