Christabel Chamarette supports Racism No!

"Voting for Racism No! is more than symbolic", former WA Greens Senator Christabel Chamarette said in a statement on December 4. "It is a really tangible way to show politicians and governments that many people do not agree with the current climate of publicity being given to racist attitudes and values.

"My assistance and vote for Racism No! is my way of indicating that racists and opponents of Aboriginal justice do not speak for me."

In addition to handing out how to vote information for Greens (WA) candidate Jim Scott, on December 14, Chamarette said, "I have indicated to Racism No! candidates Clarrie and Arun that I will hand out their election materials at my polling booth.

"Yaluritja (Clarrie Isaacs) and Arun Pradhan are excellent candidates to demonstrate our affirmation of Aboriginal peoples as the indigenous people of this land and of the rich and diverse contributions to Australian society that ... migrants provide.

"I have known and respected Clarrie for over 10 years as he stood up for justice and human rights in many different areas, during the clash with the government and Multiplex over the Swan Brewery, Rottnest Island graves, workers' issues and deaths in custody. The issues he and Arun bring to this election of justice for Aboriginal people, migrant and ethnic community rights, workers' rights and full employment are concerns shared by the Greens (WA)."
