Chechen government appeal

The following statement was received by the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation (UNPO) General Secretariat on February 27 from the government of the Chechen Republic Ichkeria.

The Government of the Chechen Republic Ichkeria hereby appeals through mass media to the world community, to all countries, peoples and organisations which have still preserved justice and are prepared to fight to defend it!

Russian occupation forces, following the direct orders of the top political leaders of the Kremlin, carry out mass executions through shooting of young Chechen nationals in Grozny.

At present 84 cases of shooting teenagers and young boys aged from 12 to 20 years are known. More than 10,000 Chechen people, including women, children and old people, are kept in specialised concentration camps in Russia, North Ossetia, in Nadterechnij district of the Chechen Republic and in Grozny, where they are subjected to highly sophisticated tortures and vicious mockery.

Russian leadership and Mr Boris Yeltsin personally implement the policy of ethnic cleansing in the Chechen Republic.

The Government of the Chechen Republic Ichkeria appeals to the world community, asking it to exert influence on the Kremlin by using all possible means to stop the new genocide which they started to perpetrate against the Chechen people.

At the same time the Chechen people reserve the right to defend their lives using all power and means within their capacity.
