Green Left Weekly is moving to a new office. Ever since it was founded in 1991, GLW has been produced in Sydney in our Chippendale office, on Abercrombie St.
For years before that, GLW’s predecessor, Direct Action, was also produced in the Chippendale building.
But the space no longer suits our needs and we are moving to an exciting new building on Mountain Street, Ultimo — just minutes from Abercrombie St.
The modern, renovated space will serve as our offices but also a place for public meetings, film screenings and functions. If we can raise the money, the office will be decked out with new furniture and equipment to help professionalise GLW’s operations.
The move involves many costs and we are asking for your help to cover them. Not only for new desks, tables and chairs but also for moving trucks, rubbish and recycling disposal, new cabling and more.
The move will save us many costs in the long term, and help ensure GLW continues as a proudly independent voice committed to human and civil rights, global peace and environmental sustainability, democracy and equality.
We’ve already begun the move. A big thanks to the army of volunteers who last weekend made a significant start to packing up and moving equipment.
But there’s plenty more to do and we still need to push towards our Fighting Fund target for the year, to sustain GLW’s ongoing production costs.
If you can help please make a donation online today to the Green Left Weekly Fighting Fund at https://www.greenleft.org.au/donate/details
So far our supporters have raised $86,708 of our $250,000 fighting fund target for this year.
