There are many strong environmental and social justice arguments why the capitalist system needs to be replaced. But is it possible in Australia, which is one of the wealthiest countries in the world? Karl Marx wrote,"No social order is ever destroyed before all the productive forces for which it is sufficient have been developed, and new superior relations of production never replace older ones before the material conditions for their existence have matured within the framework of the old society." Have we reached this point yet? What should socialists in Australia do in the present conditions?
