Cabaret Resist! to focus on women

By Dave Riley

BRISBANE — With poetry, monologues, percussion, songs and boppy melodies from the band Delta Skelter, the first Cabaret Resist! at the Resistance Centre on February 26 was an up-beat night enriched by audience participation. The March 19 cabaret is sure to offer more of the same.

The March event will focus on women's performance with singers such as Sue Monk and Maree Robinson. It will again feature a mixture of items with a strong political bent.

Also this month, the Resistance Centre begins its film program with two feminist films made by Anne O'Casey: Forbidden Body and Last Line of Defence. They will be screened at the Resistance Centre, 29 Terrace St, New Farm, on Friday, March 26.

Both events begin at 7pm, and a meal will be available from 6.30pm. For further information or to inquire about performing at Cabaret Resist!, phone Dave on (07) 3266 4281. All proceeds from both events go to Green Left Weekly.
