BRISBANE — The Climate Summit 2010, held in Canberra in March, "provided a launching pad for the building of a grassroots, activist climate action movement around the country", Ewan Saunders, Community Climate Network Queensland activist and Socialist Alliance candidate for the federal seat of Brisbane, told about 100 people at an April 14 CCNQ forum.

Saunders summarised the themes of the climate summit, and noted the establishment of a new national climate network, coming out of the summit discussions. He urged the people present to become active in the CCNQ and their local climate action groups.

Other speakers at the forum included David Hood, Queensland University of Technology academic and Climate Project presenter; Hava Mendelle, from the Six Degrees campaign; Howard Nielsen, from Pine Rivers Climate Action Network and the Transition Towns movement; and Scott Reichmann, from the Electrical Trades Union.
