Brisbane anti-budget rally planned

By Bill Mason

BRISBANE — A rally and march to protest against the Howard government's cutbacks and anti-worker policies has been set for budget day, Tuesday, May 13, at 12.30pm in King George Square. The demands of the rally will be: "Draw the line! Fight the anti-union laws! Stop the budget cuts!"

The rally has won the endorsement of many trade unions, political and community groups, including the Community and Public Sector Union, the Maritime Union of Australia, the Public Transport Union, the Transport Workers Union, the Communications, Electrical and Plumbing Union and the Democratic Socialist Party.

Workers, students and others are being urged to walk out and join the demonstration to show their opposition to the vicious policies of the Coalition at federal and state level.
