Santos admits it has no plan to treat CSG waste
Santos has admitted it has no plan on how to store or remove the 500 million litres of toxic brine and waste water its Narrabri coal seam gas (CSG) exploration wells would produce in the next five years.
Santos made the admission after the NSW government requested more information in its application for the Leewood CSG waste-water treatment plant. Santos has said only that it would “commit to within two years to lodge a plan for the processing of brine, transport and disposal of salt from Leewood to an appropriately licenced facility”. It will not be able to pursue the Narrabri Gas Project without the approval for its waste-water treatment.
