Actively Radical TV — Community television's progressive current affairs program tackles the hard issues from the activist's point of view. CTS Sydney (UHF 31), every Friday, 10.30pm, and Saturday, 2.30am. The Native Americans — Before the Europeans arrived, every corner of North America was alive with indigenous peoples. For more than 1000 generations, 500 tribes of Native Americans existed over what is today the USA. This new series allows these peoples to tell their stories and histories. Each of the four episodes examines North America by geographic region revealing a great diversity of cultures, languages and values. Native American people tell of their tribes, from their origins through the devastation wrought by European invasion. SBS, Sunday, October 22, 7.30pm. Frontline: The Desert Angel — The rival networks fight, with cheque books open, over the story of an aid worker found after five weeks lost in the Sahara desert. ABC TV, Monday, October 23, 8pm. Movie: Stalin's Funeral (1990) — Directed by renowned poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko. Through the eyes of a young poet, Zhenya, we follow the events of several days preceding and following Stalin's death — arrests of innocent people, mass hysteria in the Moscow streets and hundreds of deaths due to the incompetence and indifference of the city authorities. SBS, Monday, October 23, 9.30pm. Movie: The Silver Fleet (1943) — Only God knows where the ABC is dredging up these ancient insomnia remedies, but they keep coming! This morning's ripping yarn sees a gallant, patriotic shipowner in Nazi-occupied Holland who seemingly cooperates but actually gives those dastardly cads what they deserve. ABC TV, Tuesday, October 24, 2am. Doc — A special documentary of the life and work of ALP leader Herbert Vere "Doc" Evatt. Evatt became president of the UN General Assembly. He also fought against Menzies' attempt to ban the Communist Party. ABC TV, Thursday, October 26, 8.30pm.
