Archaeology: Angkor Wat — Angkor is the largest religious monument — a sprawling 320 square km of temple cities surrounded by impenetrable jungle. At the mercy of looters, the lethal Khmer Rouge and the jungle, the complex most recently has been the subject of an archaeological free-for-all. Today, UNESCO is coordinating restoration efforts. SBS, Friday, May 26, 7.30pm.

Movie legend: Metropolis (1926) — Fritz Lang's epic sci-fi about a city where the bosses exploit the oppressed workers who keep the metropolis functioning. The cities' evil rulers build a robot — a sort of mechanical Martin Ferguson (isn't that a tautology?) — to dupe the workers and prevent them making revolution. SBS, Friday, May 26, 9.30pm.

Actively Radical TV — Community television's progressive current affairs program tackles the hard issues from the activist's point of view. CTS Sydney (UHF 31), every Friday, 10.30pm.

Focus on the far right in the US — SBS is screening a series of programs that explore the links between the far right and racist groups. The programs include: Voices of Hate: The Oklahoma Connection — a report on the white supremacist groups, the Order and the Aryan Nation, Monday, May 29, 11pm; Skinheads USA — the dramatic last days of a Alabama-based skinhead group, Monday, May 29, 11.30pm; Different Drummer: Dr No, a Profile of William Pierce — about the ultra-rightist whose book, The Turner Diaries, is said to have inspired the culprits behind the Oklahoma bombing, Tuesday, May 30, 7.30pm; Angry Voices — respected liberal broadcaster Robert MacNeil's special on right-wing hate radio in the US, Tuesday, May 30, 8pm; Rush Limburgh's America — about the right-wing ravings heard on more than 600 radio stations across the US, Tuesday, May 30, 8.30pm.

Compass: Homosexual Clergy — Traditional churches are being forced to grapple with their approach to homosexual Christians. ABC TV, Sunday, May 28, 10.20pm.

Movie: Caruga — An ex-soldier returning to Yugoslavia from the Russian Revolution with hopes that the people at home will follow the Russian people's example and rise up against poverty and oppression. SBS, Wednesday, May 31, 10.30pm.

Ordinary People — An amazing series of documentaries about "ordinary people" in South Africa which takes us beyond the stereotypes and shows us something of the complex and vibrant society that has evolved. Denzel, a teenager from the "coloured" township of Ennerdale, takes part in the Miss Gay Transvaal competition. Filmed with him are his mother and a lesbian activist attending the show. SBS, Thursday, June 1, 8pm.
