Global Village: Robben Island — For nearly 400 years, Robben Island, 12 kilometres from Cape Town, was a place of banishment, exile, isolation and imprisonment for political troublemakers and social outcasts, including Nelson Mandela who spent 17 years there. SBS, Tuesday, October 12, 6pm.

Cutting Edge: Greetings From Grozny — Captures for the first time the so-called cleansing missions — raids by Russia's Federal Security Service to arrest suspected Chechen rebels fighting for independence. SBS, Tuesday, October 12, 8.30pm.

The Cartel: Oil And The US Government — George Bush's administration has always had a close affiliation to the US oil and energy industry. This German documentary maintains that Bush owes his position to contacts with powerful members of these industries and it's now "payback" time. SBS, Thursday, October 14, 2pm.
