Cold War Casualty: the Strange Case of Noel Field — Field was a Swiss-born US Quaker and a pacifist who embraced communism as a result of the Spanish Civil War. However, he continued to work for the State Department and was sent to Eastern Europe. He was arrested in Hungary as a US spy.
