The Arc Trial — In May, geology professor Ian Plimer took fundamentalist Dr Alan Roberts to court in an attempt to defend evolution. This episode of Quantum examines the Plimer's commitment to the cause of exposing creationism. ABC-TV, Thursday, July 17, 8pm.

The King, the Cow and the Banana Tree — A look at the traditional life of the Ngweshe people of eastern Congo, who have maintained their peaceful democratic way of life despite the turmoil around them. SBS, Sunday, July 20, 8.30pm.

Movie: Genghis Cohn — A murderously comic tale in which the ghost of a Jewish comedian returns to haunt the former SS officer who had him shot. ABC-TV, Monday, July 21, 1.05am.

Nightfighters — In the 1930s, the US military told African-Americans that they were so inferior that they could not be trusted to control complex equipment like fighter planes. Later, during World War II, many became ace fighter pilots in the USAF. They were segregated from the white bomber pilots whose lives they protected. ABC-TV, Tuesday, July 22. 1.55am.

Fork in the Road: New Orleans — Pria Viswalingam tastes the culture of the Creole people of New Orleans: their history, architecture, food, religion, music and attitudes. SBS, Tuesday, July 22, 8pm.

Maverick on a Mobile — A profile of Graeme Campbell, the racist MP who emerged from the ALP to join the ranks of the "Anglo right" whose most prominent representative is Pauline Hanson. This documentary follows Campbell as he campaigns in the last federal election. ABC-TV, Wednesday, July 23, 8.30pm.

Blacktracker — Kicking off the National Indigenous Documentary Series, this film is a tribute to Tracker Riley, one of the greatest of all Aboriginal trackers, as told by his family. His life coincided with a period of great oppression, but Riley's skills and humanity challenged the ignorance of the times. The series features eight documentaries from independent indigenous film makers to be screened on ABC-TV, starting Thursday, July 24, 8.30pm.
