Book launch & forum on the Kurdish Freedom Struggle Today

Wednesday, October 7, 2015 - 13:00

The eruption of the brutal Islamic State in the Middle East has placed the Kurdish people In Iraq, Syria and Turkey at the centre of the political stage.

The most effective opposition to the Islamic State killers has come from the revolutionary democratic wing of the Kurdish freedom movement — the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), and the People’s Protection Units and Women’s Protection Units in Rojava in northern Syria.

In Turkey, the gains of the Democratic Freedom Party at the June 7 elections threatened the regime of President Recip Tayyip Erdogan. Erdogan has scrapped the peace process with the PKK. Kurdish towns and villages are under violent attack.

A new pamphlet The Kurdish Freedom Struggle Today by Resistance Books, aims to provide information and perspective on these struggles and encourage a more active solidarity in Australia.
