Wentworth Falls School of Arts
Opening Night Friday June 11 and then until Monday June 14
This annual visual arts exhibition is a celebration of Australian Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) artists and is now the largest event of its
kind nationally. There are two major prizes as well as a New Entrant Award, a
Youth Award and an Aboriginal Award. Entrants come from all over Australia
and the curators are Sophie Seeger and Jane Canfield.

DISCO AND TALENT QUEST
Presented by the Three Sisters Social Group
At Blackheath Community Hall
Saturday June 12 7.15pm until 1.15am

The Disco and Talent Quest is an annual event attracting a few hundred
people from all directions. It is a relaxed and fun night of dancing and
entertainment. It is a BYO event and bookings are not required. People
looking to participate for the cash prizes should enter before by contacting
Warren Brash on 8230 0889 or email wbrash@bigpond.com. People are
guaranteed a terrific night of socialising with friends old and new. Get in early
to get a good seat.
Tickets $20 on the door.
Music by Sound Affair. Snack bar and soft drinks available.

QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY BALL

At the Carrington Hotel, Katoomba
Sunday June 13 from 7pm until midnight
The Queen’s Birthday Ball is an infamous and planning begins almost a year
out. It is an intimate and stylish evening with brilliant costumes, decorated
tables and dancing. The theme for 2010 is A Night On Broadway and tickets
are strictly limited to this night of nights. Enjoy drinks and canapés on arrival
followed by a delicious three course meal. Bookings are essential so get in
early!
Tickets are $135 per head

KINGS AND QUEENS TO CASTLE (GLBTQ Bushwalk)

Sunday, 13 June
Easy-Medium, 8km.
Join in this easyish walk down the Golden Stairs to the Federal Pass, and
then up to the Ruined Castle, a spectacular rock outcrop with 360 degree
views. The twist is that girls will dress up as guys, and guys will dress up as
girls!! Let your imagination and sense of the absurd run riot, however no high
heels unless you want to turn an ankle! The photo opportunities on top of the
Ruined Castle will be wonderful!
Meet: Katoomba Falls Reserve Oval carpark (just before Katoomba Caravan
Park, Katoomba Falls Road (off Katoomba Street) at 10am. We will then
carpool to the start of the walk, about 10 mins drive.
Bring: Obviously get dressed up in whatever finery you wish, but bring your
lunch, plenty of water, camera, warm jacket etc.

pinkNIC IN GLENBROOK PARK

Enjoy the beauty of the lower Blue Mountains with a casual picnic in
Glenbrook Park. This bubbling village is the gateway to the Blue Mountains
from the east and a popular spot for families including Rainbow families. Bring your rug and hamper and relax while the kids run around, play on the swings or kick a ball about with friends on the oval. Good coffee is only a stones throw away and if heading home to the east it’s a good way to beat the afternoon traffic.
Free but BYO everything!

pinkFESTflicks

at The Edge Cinema Katoomba

Returning for the second year Queer Screen presents a selection of the best
international LGBTQ film at Katoomba’s The Edge Cinema. With a delightful
selection of films for all pinkFESTflicks will bring pinkFEST an enjoyable
close.
Details of the sessions will be posted on pinkmountains.com.au and the
Queer Screen website in early May.

pinkFEST POOL PARTY

This is a new event for 2010 and is designed for the emerging and growing
GLBQ Community of young people in the Blue Mountains and their friends.
The event offers a safe and fun environment for same sex attracted and queer youth to socialise and establish networks and friendships. The event is a dry event and attendees will have access to service providers who support their needs. This will include ACON Western Sydney and local youth services.
$10 per person

MEDLOW BATH PARK – during daylight hours
Take a trip to the quaint town of Medlow Bath (just up from Katoomba) and
wander through the 130 trees that have been planted in memory of those that have passed away from HIV/AIDS. Each year around World AIDS Day a
ceremony is held in the park to remember those people that have passed. A
relaxing and quiet place enjoy the fresh air of the mountains as you wonder
through.

THE THREE SISTERS and SCENIC WORLD – during daylight hours
Visit the famous Three Sisters in Katoomba as they tower over the beautiful
Jamison Valley. Take a bushwalk round the cliff top to Scenic World where
you can plunge down into the valley on the Scenic Railway or be suspended
270m above the valley floor on the Skyway.
