Auburn opposes war

Issue

SYDNEY — More than 100 protesters rallied in the western Sydney suburb of Auburn on September 20, opposing any war on Iraq. The protest was organised by the Socialist Alliance, which decided on September 17 to run local activist Roberto Jorquera for the seat of Auburn.

Against a background of supportive toots from passing traffic and cheers from passers-by, protesters heard from speakers including Layla Muhammad from the Worker-Communist Party of Iraq, Alison Maxwell from Resistance, Vlaudin Vega from the Colombian Solidarity Committee, Steve Maxwell from the Greens as well as Jorquera, before marching through the main street.
