The Sydney Morning Herald revealed on November 2 that author Naomi Wolf was being paid A$23,000 a month to advise US Vice President Al Gore on how to win over younger voters.

In Australia, 1970s feminist Anne Summers was hired by the former Keating government for a similar role.

Wolf's first book, The Beauty Myth, documented the use of unrealistic stereotypes in advertising and their effect on women. However, in a later book, Fire with Fire, she accused women of failing to seize the "power" that was available to them in society.

Now it seems that her next career move is selling cosmetics to the powerbrokers of the US government.
