BRISBANE — Jim Dowling, AIDEX protester and Catholic Worker, was arrested and jailed for 10 days on June 11. Police were executing a warrant for his arrest over charges relating to his participation in the November 1991 blockade of Aidex.
A statement by the Catholic Worker community explained, "Jim's way of life has been criminalised, as death is legitimised in the market place."
"The Aidex fair was part of the Australian Government's and corporate sector's continued push for an increased slice of the world's arms market ... Many of the weapons at this exhibition are now on display in Somalia, Timor, Bougainville, the Balkans spilling the blood of the innocent", the statement continued.
