Actions to save forests

Following a series of actions in January to oppose the chipping and export of old-growth forests, further protests are planned for February.

These include a rally in Newcastle on February 18, in Sydney on February 19 in Brisbane on February 23 and in Canberra on February 26. Contact the Wilderness Society in your city to help and for further details.

A public meeting with Bob Brown in Canberra is sponsored by the Wilderness Society (February 10, Albert Hall).

In Melbourne the Democratic Socialist Party and Resistance are organising a public meeting on February 15 and in Brisbane, Resistance has organised a forum for February 11.

Speak-outs are being organised by "concerned citizens" in Sydney on February 16 at Town Hall and by Resistance in Hobart on February 11.

A Politics in the Pub will be held in Perth on jobs and the environment, sponsored by the DSP and the WA Greens (February 20). For more details, check the calendar on pages 29-31.
