GOLD COAST — A "Black and White night charity bash" is being organised by Surfers Against Nuclear Destruction on Friday, September 13, beginning at 8 p.m. at the Kirra Pub. It will feature Gun Shy & Punk Tured Lung.

A Ride For Peace on Sunday, September 15, will leave the Spit (Waterway drive) at 9.30 a.m. and ride to Broadbeach Markets. Riders must have helmets. For more information, ring (075) 34 1412.

HOBART — "Abortion, it's a Woman's Right to Choose" proclaimed a banner raised by pro-choice activists during the screening of an anti-abortion video at Tasmania University on September 5. Chanting overran the video and sparked a debate with the organisers, Students for Christ.

MELBOURNE — Friends of the Earth are planning a day of anti-AIDEX, anti-militarism action in the city, probably on Remembrance Day, November 11. Also being organised is an environment-related action to take to Canberra on the last day of AIDEX, November 28. Further information on 419 8700.

SYDNEY — The Middle East Action Coalition held a conference on August 31 as part of the international effort launched by former US attorney general Ramsey Clark to investigate possible war crimes by the US and its allies during the Gulf War. Spokesperson Diana Ingram stated that the main purpose of the conference was to "wake up the media to the truth of the war and to inform the Australian people".
