WOLLONGONG — On October 18, Resistance held a Rock Against Racism at the Ukrainian Centre. A crowd of about 150 saw a line-up of Nabilone, Navelgraveyard, Second, Tank o' piss, Zero Tolerance, Frontside and Dunce, and DJs Sam and Sublunar. The event was organised to educate young people about injustices such as Howard's 10-point Wik plan and Indonesia's invasion of East Timor. It raised more than $300 for the anti-racism campaign.

Telstra workers picket

BRISBANE — Community and Public Sector Union members picketed a number of Telstra offices here and elsewhere in Queensland on October 17 during a 24-hour nationwide strike called to demand improvements in pay and conditions, as part of the union's battle over a new enterprise agreement.

The picketers converged on Telstra House in Eagle Street for a show of strength later that morning. Leaflets distributed to pickets and people entering the buildings included a CPSU update entitled "10 Good Reasons to Join the Strike" and a Resist! bulletin published by the Democratic Socialist Party and Resistance.
