Jack Mundey will speak on the 40th anniversary of the first Green Ban at Kelly's Bush (June 1971). He will discuss the history and significance of the Green Ban movement which was responsible for saving much of Sydney's vital urban open space and over 100 heritage buildings from out-of-control constuction in the 1970s.
Jack Mundey was leader of the Builders Labourers Federation, and imposed ‘Green Bans’ on buildings of heritage value and on open spaces. Mundey was made a Life Member of the National Trust and a Life Member of the Australian Conservation Foundation.
