Building on the people power of the previous shark cull rallies, we now rally not just for WA (the fisheries are still dropping baited drum lines upon shark sightings/fatalities) but also for the East Coast of Australia.
Drum lines are deployed up & down the East Coast & our beaches are "protected" by pointless nets and drum lines which are doing more harm than good by drowning sharks & various other marine animals. These 'shark control programs' only give people a false sense of security.
As recently shown on Channel 7 some of them are not even being maintained & what is happening beneath the surface of where you swim is not pretty.
Bring your friends & family, share this widely with your networks & let's celebrate what we, the public have achieved by making our voices heard.
Let's make the State Governments & Councils take notice & listen to the science & us, and make them understand there are alternatives to these antiquated & ineffective nets & drum lines.
