Rally NSW Government - listen to the people: Stop Coal Seam Gas!

Thursday, March 15, 2012 - 16:00

Rally when the NSW Parliament debates our 20,000-strong Coal Seam Gas petition demanding a moratorium on all CSG activity, a royal commission into all aspects of CSG and a ban on fracking. Rally because 5,000 wells are being planned for NSW, on farmlands, in water catchement areas, in State Forests, next to dams. It's time to stop this dangerous industry before more harm is done. Join speakers at a rally outside Parliament or help pack out the gallery. Bring your sign, your shirt, your voice! NSW State Parliament, Macquarie St.

In the Pilliga, mining companies' initial plans are for 1100 gas wells across more than 85,000 hectares of the last great expanse of temperate woodland on the eastern seaboard. Plans include 1000km of gas and water pipelines and the clearing of about 2400 hectares of native vegetation. And that's just the first stage. There is a patchwork of exploration licences covering the entire Pilliga. It is a huge risk to biodiversity, not to mention unacceptably risky for groundwater integrity across the entire nation. It must be stopped. See you at the rally.
