The evening will also include an update of our friends of Hebron kindergarten projects and a short film on the Palestinian prisoners dignity strike. Light refreshments will be available. As Malaysia continues to be rocked by news of grand corruption and a plethora of democratic setbacks, a massive march is planned for Kuala Lumpur and in 50+ cities around the world. Sydney’s Bersih 5 rally will begin at 2.00PM at Customs House, followed by a march at 3.30PM to Hicksons Road Reserve, where we will end the rally with a group photo with the iconic Sydney Opera House behind us.

The NSW O’Farrell Liberal Government has slashed the rights of public sector workers and is planning to take away hard-won conditions of employment. Only the most vigorous action by workers and unions and broad support of the community will protect public services and assets and the jobs of public sector workers.

Furious lobbying is continuing, and it’s entirely possible that deals will be done with enough Senate cross-benchers to allow the legislation to pass.If you have a spare hour, please join us in the Quadrangle at the University of Sydney on Monday at 1pm to show the media that if university VCs mostly support deregulation, we – university staff – don’t.
