When Morning Breaks
When Morning Breaks
By Cassandra Fazio
They say the currents are not safe
I long to swing from tree to tree
And still my line is answered with a cold, electrical machine
I dreamt my forest sisters came to take me back
We danced in canopies of trees
That shake the water from their backs
We slept in sleepy villages above the ground
They say our water is not safe
And yet, how else to quench this thirst
I'd rather be a woven strand
Into the fabric of the earth
And still I drive upon her face
In towns where people have no place
I dreamt my forest sisters came to guide my hands
To place my pen upon my page
To give expression to their rage
To see that things are not the same
When morning breaks

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
John Pilger
