May Day on South Coast
May Day on South Coast

WOLLONGONG — Workers, students and community activists are expected to rally on May 6 for the annual May Day March in support of justice for all peoples.
Leading the march will be picketers from the recently demobilised Coledale Hospital picket line, established in January to oppose the Fahey government's attempts to close it. The picket line involved people from the mining community, who helped to establish the hospital, the trade unions and community activists.
A contingent of students from the university will also be marching. The May Day Committee invited the student contingent to highlight the fact that education should be a right for everyone and not a privilege.
The rally will be addressed by Kevin Parker from the Wilderness Society, South Coast Labour Council assistant secretary Mark Armstrong and a representative from the university SRC.
The march assembles at the Trade Union Centre at 10am and will proceed to the amphitheatre. The May Day toast and ball at Heineger Hall in Dapto will take place the night before.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
