SYDNEY — Sixty students marched through the Sydney University Campus on April 23 to protest against the ALP's attacks on education. The action started with a rally at which Adrian Ryan, secretary of the New South Wales branch of the National Tertiary Education Union, pledged support for students' struggles against fees. Nadya Haddad, president of the Students Representative Council, condemned the university administration's failure to protect the interests of students and the academic community. The students then marched across the campus to the office of the vice chancellor. The march finished with a discussion about how students would build the national day of action against fees on May 3.

"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
