AIDS tree project
SYDNEY — The Sydney Park AIDS Tree Planting Project will hold its next planting day on Sunday, June 25, between 10.30am and 4pm. Project organisers are inviting people to plant a tree for a loved one who has died from an HIV/AIDS-related illness.
June 25 coincides with the global commemoration by lesbians, gays and transgenders of the Stonewall riots in 1969, which marked the beginning of the modern gay and lesbian liberation movement.
The tree planting has been supported by South Sydney City Council, by granting the space for the memorial grove and supplying young trees for planting.
People wanting to participate can simply turn up on the day to Sydney Park, opposite St Peters railway station. More information on the day is available by writing to PO Box 26, Belmore 2192 or telephoning Mannie De Saxe on 718 1452.
