Pornography: A feminist debate

In an article in the June 18 Bulletin, Melbourne feminist, lawyer and writer JOCELYNNE SCUTT outlined a proposal for dealing with degrading representations of women, an idea originated by Andrea Dworkin and Catharine MacKinnon in the United States. Scutt argued that "pornography" should be described as sex discrimination, and the definition incorporated into law. On these pages we present excerpts from that article and from a paper she gave at the recent Socialist Scholars Conference in Melbourne, and a criticism by TRACY SORENSEN.
