Anti-Violence Project launched
SYDNEY — "In a perfect world homophobia would be dying: not gays and lesbians." This is the theme of a new campaign launched here on August 19 by the Lesbian and Gay Anti-Violence Project (AVP) and the AIDS Council of NSW. The poster campaign will be used in community centres, health centres, legal centres, schools and AIDS organisations throughout NSW.
AVP acting coordinator, Paul Van Reyk, pointed out that "many of the reports we get say that violence against lesbians and gays is often accompanied by expressions of hatred against people with HIV/AIDS. This campaign fosters community understanding of the connections, and encourages people to take steps to reduce the levels of violence against gays and lesbians and people with HIV/AIDS."
The poster campaign is aimed at combating the fear and prejudice that can lead to violence against gay men and lesbians. It calls for an end to both, "cure hate: stop AIDS."

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
