Peace talks
Peace talks
Peace talks in Tambea in the Solomon Islands between the Papua New Guinea government and the Bougainville Interim Government concluded optimistically on August 27. In a joint statement, the two delegations expressed "satisfaction at the frank and positive atmosphere in which dialogue and understanding were reached on an agenda of peace".
This was the first time that PNG officials had met with Bougainville Revolutionary Army commander Sam Kauona.
The two sides agreed that they would work towards a peace conference at which they would declare a cease-fire. They also agreed that the BRA and representatives of the Bougainville Interim Government would meet PNG's Bougainville Interim Legal Authorities before holding a ministerial meeting of both sides on September 2 in the Solomon Islands.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
