PERTH — The national campaign coordinator of the Wilderness Society, Kevin Parker, called on the federal government to use its legislative powers to protect WA's unique environment at a press conference held here on September 16.
"It is painfully obvious that the Court government is acting in an irresponsible and destructive manner as far as preservation of the state's unique environment is concerned", Parker explained.
Meanwhile, Phil Gregory ended his hunger strike against destruction of the state's old-growth forests on September 16, after 19 days. Sundra Csiparo, who had joined Gregory, has now returned to the south-west town of Denmark to continue her hunger strike.
Gregory urged people to attend the Save our Forests family gathering at the Saw Avenue Picnic Area in Kings Park beginning at 11am on Sunday, September 25.

"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
