Burma — Democracy Denied
Burma — Democracy Denied
By Sue Bolton
Burma — Democracy Denied is a striking collection of photographs and text. The people of Burma today suffer under an iron-fisted military dictatorship; there are extensive human rights violations; some 350,000 refugees have fled the country; and the war against Burma's ethnic minorities is now in its 46th year.
The exhibition is touring the country, and is now showing in Adelaide. For those trying to understand the development of the situation in Burma, this display is well worth a visit. The details are as follows:
Photo exhibition: Tuesday and Wednesday, May 24-25 (all day), Matthew Flinders Theatre, Flinders University.
Public forum and showing of documentary: Wednesday, May 25, 1pm, Clubs and Societies Meeting Room, Flinders University.
The exhibition then shows in Alice Springs on June 17-18.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
John Pilger
