Hunger strike at Chinese embassy
Hunger strike at Chinese embassy
Li Lu, a student leader during the 1989 pro-democracy demonstration in Tienanmen Square in Beijing, is currently on a hunger strike in front of the Chinese embassy in Washington, DC.
He began his fast on August 17 to protest against the inhumane conditions under which Chen Ziming and Wang Juntao are being held in Beijing No. 2 Prison.
Wang and Chen, two leaders of the democracy movement, have been held in solitary confinement, with neither medical attention nor adequate food, since the beginning of April.
Wang, who is suffering from hepatitis B, began a hunger strike in his cell on August 13 to protest against the denial of medical treatment. Chen went on hunger strike to support Wang and to press his demands for improved conditions.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
