Melbourne — As part of their People Against Pollution campaign, 20 EYA members participated in the opening of the Melbourne Fringe Festival street parade and party on August 28. Also marching were the Wilderness Society, Greenpeace and Aboriginal groups.
"Our focus is on pointing out the environmental hazards of mass car use and on campaigning for safer, more accessible public transport. We also want to point out to the government that raising tax on petrol won't solve the problem", EYA member Rachel Evans told Green Left Weekly.
Also planned for the People Against Pollution campaign in Melbourne is a banner drop with street theatre on October 2.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
