Boycott Mitsubishi campaign

BRISBANE — The Boycott Mitsubishi Campaign to save the world's rainforests from destruction continued here on September 10 with banner drops at three consecutive overpasses of Brisbane's major freeway in peak hour traffic.
At 12 noon the same day a protest was held in and around the Queen Street Mall, where 2000 Mitsubishi boycott information leaflets were handed out.
"The message is getting around, Mitsubishi can be stopped and they will", said Jodi Price from the Griffith University Science and Sustainability Club.
Mitsubishi is the one of the largest destroyers of tropical rainforests in the world, with extensive logging operations in Malaysia, Brazil, Indonesia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Chile and Canada.
Boycott coordinators from the Rainforest Information Centre in Lismore, Brent Hoare and Yonatan, were in Brisbane on September 9 and held film screenings at Griffith University and the Resistance Centre in New Farm.
Films on Mitsubishi's involvement in world rainforest destruction are available from the Lismore Rainforest Information Centre, PO Box 368, Lismore NSW 2480, or phone (066) 218 505.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
