Have some money

Wednesday, November 3, 1993 - 11:00

Recently Green Left received a letter from
a subscriber. "Dear GLW," it read. "Have some money."
Enclosed was a cheque for $50.

Green Left Weekly receives no corporate funding. We
will not run sexist, racist or otherwise exploitative or misleading
advertisements. Therefore we receive little interest, and even less
money, for ads.

Green Left is not funded by a rich entrepreneur. It is
sustained by readers, contributors and supporters. None of us
individually have the financial resources to keep Green Left
running. Yet together we ensure that it survives.

Green Left does not own any capital. It must rent, beg
or borrow everything it needs to produce the paper from week to week.
The only capital it has is political β€” the ongoing support of
those who value Green Left's strong and independent perspective.

This is why letters of the kind mentioned are so important.
Letters like that keep the presses turning and the issues alive.

Not everyone who reads Green Left Weekly has the
resources to give $50. Yet increasingly we receive an extra $10 or $20
on top of a subscription, or a small cheque will come in the mail
β€” the little extra that helps us find our way through the monthly
bills.

Whatever you can give, whatever you can do, your
contribution to the Green Left project will make a difference.
Send donations or inquiries to Green Left Weekly, PO Box 394,
Broadway, NSW 2007. Green Left Weekly β€” it's your
newspaper.
