GREEN LEFT TV: Melbourne's National Aborigines and Islanders Day march
National Aboriginal & Islander Day March, Melbourne, July 6, 2012: More than 600 people from all over Victoria marched to celebrate NAIDOC week. Protesters demanded land rights and chanted: "Always was, always will be Aboriginal land!" A highlight of the demonstration was the impromptu takeover of a key intersection, where people performed traditional dance to the sounds of a didjeridoo. The march finished with speeches celebrating NAIDOC and encouraging people to continue the struggle for justice. Photos by Margarita Windisch. Music by Warumpi Band.

"Australia has the most restrictive media in the western world. Censorship by omission denies Australians their democratic right to make sense of whole stratas of political and foreign policy. That's why Green Left Weekly is a beacon, doing a job of honourable journalism, as an agent of people, not power."
