Dump Connex campaign launched
The Dump Connex campaign was launched on March 30, Palestinian Land Day. It was initiated by the Coalition of Palestine Support Organisations, which organised the Melbourne protests against the Israeli assault on Gaza in January and February.
The campaign is calling for the state Labor government to dump Connex's contract to run Melbourne's train system on human rights grounds. Connex is constructing an "apartheid" light rail system to link illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
Construction of the light rail will result in the demolition of many Palestinian homes and it's designed to entrench Israel's occupation of East Jerusalem and the West Bank.
New contracts for Melbourne's public transport system will be announced in July. Supporters can help by collecting bundles of leaflets to distribute from the Resistance Centre, Level 5, 407 Swanston St, Melbourne (opposite RMIT) or by calling (03) 9639 8622.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
