Apology and undertaking

The 22 November 2008 edition of the Green Left Weekly (GLW #776) contained an article written by Margarita Windisch entitled "ALP, media targets militant ETU unionist".

The article carried the following imputations:

(a) Ms Garbett attempted to discredit Dean Mighell and the ETU;
(b) Ms Garbett made a vexatious claim at the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission (VEOHRC);
(c) Ms Garbett attempted to extort $22,000 from the Union; and
(d) Ms Garbett made false claims to the Herald Sun which led to an article being printed on Dean Mighell.

GLW acknowledges that the above imputations are entirely baseless and untrue and regrets that they were ever made. GLW unreservedly apologises for any distress embarrassment caused to Ms Garbett or her family by this article.

GLW undertakes not to make the above defamatory allegations or similar allegations to anyone else in the future.
