Justice for TJ!
One hundred people marched through Redfern on February 14 to mark the fifth anniversary of the death of a young local Aboriginal man, TJ Hickey.
Hickey was impaled on a fence, allegedly as a result of a police vehicle chasing him and ramming his bike.
The demonstration was organised by Indigenous Social Justice Action and the Hickey family. The rally demanded the reopening of the inquiry into Hickey's death and an end to Black deaths in police custody.
Lyall Munro, a veteran Aboriginal activist, said that the enquiry into TJ's death blocked testimonies from local residents who saw the police pursuing TJ in the lead up to his death. The enquiry also failed to investigate claims that the police did not administer proper health and safety practices at the time.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
