Canada: Tamils protest Sri Lankan cricket team
Hundreds of Tamil people turned up on October 11 for an awareness and protest campaign in Toronto against the Sri Lankan cricket team.
Tamil citizens of Sri Lanka are being killed by the Sri Lankan armed forces daily in their land, sea and air attacks, while the Sri Lankan government is promoting sports with Canada.
Protesters wore aprons printed with a map of Tamil Eelam (the Tamil nation in north-east Sri Lanka) and "Free Tamil Eelam". They carried placards stating "Stop genocide of Tamils in Sri Lanka".
With blue skies and temperatures reaching over 25°C, Tamils gathered in the street of the King City cricket ground peacefully handing out leaflets explaining the gruesome reality for Tamils in Sri Lanka.
Canadian Tamils are upset over the serious plight of their brethrens in Sri Lanka, with 230,000 internally displaced people, including 30,000 children, living with no or limited access to food, medicines, sanitary conditions and drinking water.
Tamil Canadians are hitting the streets of Toronto regularly to engage the public on the Tamil's plight, as well as the need for a free Tamil homeland as the solution to the conflict in Sri Lanka over the past 60 years.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
