Forum dispels Howard's nuclear myths
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit could be the platform for Howard to announce a joint US/Australia nuclear action plan", Imogen Zethoven, an anti-nuclear campaigner with the Wilderness Society, told a 50-strong public forum on August 15 organised by the Sydney Nuclear Free Coalition.
The meeting was informed of the formation of a new group, the Australian Nuclear Free Alliance, which held its founding meeting in Alice Springs in early August and is comprised of Indigenous, environmental, public health and community groups from every state and territory and has vowed to fight Howard's nuclear agenda.
Other speakers included Graham Brown, a retired Hunter Valley coalminer and campaigner with the Save Anvil Hill Alliance, and professor Richard Broinowski, a former head of foreign affairs, who condemned the Howard government's intentions to sell uranium to India.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
