Bush found guilty by 'people's trial'
More than 80 people packed out the Aboriginal Cultural Centre on June 23 for a public "people's trial" of US President George Bush. The meeting, organised by the Wollongong Stop Bush committee, heard testimony from Saeb Ali from Peace for Lebanon, Maritime Union of Australia Port Kembla branch secretary Gary Keane and Walk against Warming initiator and Resistance member Paola Harvey.
Key testimony was provided by Terry Hicks, father of David Hicks. After the speakers outlined Bush's extensive crimes against humanity and the environment, he was found guilty by a unanimous vote. In the week prior to the trial, members of Wollongong Stop Bush staged a mock citizens' arrest of Bush to help publicise the September 8 "Stop Bush" protest in Sydney.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
