Hicks float wins Mardi Gras award

The 2007 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras award for "Most outstanding political comment" was awarded to the "Bring David Hicks home" float.

According to float coordinator Jason Hart, the win demonstrated that the fight for equality and the protection of human rights is universal — whether for gays and lesbians, or for those who have campaigned tirelessly for five years for justice for Hicks's.
