International students on hunger strike
On March 14, 80 international students from Central Queensland University's Melbourne campus protested against the failing of a big majority of students in the final subject of their accounting course. Of the 180 students who did the subject, 56 were failed and 122 had to sit supplementary exams. One of the protest organisers told Green Left Weekly that the students were assessed on material that was not covered in their course. The students are charged $2000 per subject and they suggest they have been failed so the university can make more money from them. A number of the students have since gone on hunger strike, as their study visas are about to expire.

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
