Why I joined Resistance
Becoming socially aware in Townsville, a city of One Nation voters, was not ideal. It was politically isolating and hard to find information that shed any light on the pressing questions on my mind: why is the world so screwed up and how is this sustainable?
I didn't find the answers until I was introduced to Resistance in Melbourne. I discovered that the "why" is capitalism and the "how" is that it cannot be under this system … and that there is an alternative — socialism.
Becoming involved with Resistance has empowered me. I know that my voice counts and that it is not solitary. It's given me an outlet for my frustrations and hope for another world.
Sasha Henriss-Anderssen, Melbourne
I joined Resistance because it is a group of compassionate young people who recognise that a society based upon the accumulation of personal material wealth is fundamentally flawed. It's one thing to recognise that there are problems in this world, it's another to stand up and do something about it.
Adam Cook, Melbourne

By now we all know that the rich get richer under capitalism. But many are astounded at the incredible pace this takes place.
"Without Green Left Weekly, freedom of press and public truth-telling in Australia would be gravely ill."
